Charley (Horse)

Charley (Styling Ona Impulse) is a 2016 APHA mare who is proudly owned and ridden by Bridgett. Charley was bred to be a show horse and is a futurity money earner as a yearling. Bridgett purchased Charley as a young 3 year old, and hoped that one day Charley would have the necessary demeanor to make a Search and Rescue horse. After just a few weeks together it became evident to Bridgett that Charley was going to make the perfect SAR partner, as even at her young age she was nearly unflappable. Charley has been certified with VMV since she was 4, and is Bridgett’s perfect partner. When Bridgett and Charley aren’t participating in VMV events they love to take cattle lessons and compete in obstacle challenges, and in the winter Charley pulls Bridgett in a sled through the fields.

Mister (Horse)

Mister is a 2015 draft-cross gelding, owned and ridden by Shannon.  Mister began his SAR career in 2019 after being rescued from a kill pen as a late 2 year-old.  He was bred as roughstock, but luckily did not like to buck.  He is a big kid with a fun, playful personality but very willing and likes to work.  His curiosity is making him an excellent SAR horse, as he is very in tune with and alert in his environment and wanting to explore and navigate new places or obstacles.
When Mister is not training for SAR, he enjoys tea parties with his other young owner/rider, and "helping" the barn owners with projects.

In loving memory of Mortikye.

Mortikye was a Morgan gelding owned and ridden by VMV member Bob. He was Bob's partner for many years, and has been certified for search and rescue with the VMV since 2014.

Mortikye was an incredible horse, truly one in a million. He participated in numerous searches and community events spreading awareness and of course giving so many people, especially kids, the opportunity to meet a real life superhero horse.

Rest easy Mortikye, we will take it from here <3
